Bio
Karen Smartt currently serves as the Director of Admissions at Indiana University School of Medicine. She began employment with the medical school in December of 1999 as the Associate Director of Admissions specializing in diversity recruitment. She earned a Doctor of Education degree in Organizational Leadership from Indiana Wesleyan University, December 2010. Her professional memberships include the Association of American Medical Colleges, Group on Student Affairs and American Medical College Application Service.
As a result of her diversity recruitment efforts, the medical school has been ranked among the nation’s top programs for underrepresented medical student enrollment.
She is a native of Indianapolis, Indiana.
